Filming
When filming our preliminary task, everything went according to plan even though it was our first time filming. Our full group was present which helped a lot as it meant that we could finish early, edit and upload onto our blogs.
Editing
Editing went especially well as i learnt many new features and skills in which i can use for the real opening sequence such as slow motions, cutting a scene in and out and reversing a scene to make it play backwards.
Problems encountered
The problems that we encountered were the following. There were some difficulties getting the camera to move perfectly in sync with the character walking as it meant we had to try a few takes to get it right, we did not have that extra person to help so we had to improvise with miss Alford meaning that we would then have to cut her out as she had accidentally got in the scene.
Strengths of prelim
We followed the instructions well and included all that was asked of us such as the 180 degree rule, shot reverse shot, action match editing, and no continuity errors.
Weaknesses of prelim
The weaknesses include the location as we were in a classroom with posters which made quite an amateurish feel to the prelim. Also as mentioned above our teacher accidentally got in the shot meaning that we would have to cut that part in the scene out and zoom into the video to fit the screen causing the video to possibly have slightly less quality in that scene than we hoped for.
Things that we will do the same next time
We will remember to follow the 180 degree rule by filming on one side of the scene and no continuity errors by carefully planning out each scene with precision.
Things that we will do differently next time
Next time the things we will do differently are obviously plan much more clearly so that we know every bit of detail within our opening sequence so that we can avoid continuity errors and find a much better location that matches the theme of our opening sequence.
