In the 'walking dead' the Blumler and Kats uses and gratifications theory is used to offer them opportunities.
From the uses and gratifications theory it is likely to say that 'The walking dead's' audience can enjoy the TV show as it gives them opportunities to be able to escape, be entertained and interact with others.
It is evident to see these examples being used as opportunities for the audience. Firstly 'The walking dead' gives the audience an opportunity to escape, for example the audience seeing such a different world and life being discovered in 'the walking dead' may result in a positive attitude towards something which is quite bad but at the same time so enjoyable to some that they actually want to escape and pretend or think about them being in the same position as the characters.

Secondly, 'The walking dead' gives the opportunity to be entertained, for example when the audience sees such a different scenario, in this case zombies! they are able to watch this as a completely new type of entertainment, and as a fan of the 'The walking dead' myself i also understand why people are so entertained with this TV show.

Lastly, 'The walking dead' gives the opportunity for the audience to interact with each other, for example the audience that watches this is able to speak to others about it and maybe even give some the chance to socialize more with different people.
Here is a recap on the latest season for you to get an idea of what the show is like, enjoy!
